Hi everyone. We hope your summer was fun with lots of outdoor time. Now its time for us to get serious about getting things set up at Silver Crest. We got the Bearkat and Can Am’s maintenance done early in the summer with one repair job needed on the Can Am. Thanks to Dustin and his crew at Polson’s Power Tech for their great service and advice ! We ordered a new Ginzu Groomer from Yellowstone Track Systems for this year and it should be here late October or sooner. Its a wider version of our older one so we should be able to set a skate lane and set classic tracks on one pass with the Can Am. It also has a wider set of teeth that will smooth out any depressions or crests left by the Can Am tracks. We are looking forward to pulling our new toy around to make the trails as smooth as possible. We will have a meeting soon to plan our events and dates so we will let everyone know asap. Last season we had our Ski Clinic, Moonlight Ski and Winter Trails Days with good turnouts ! Thanks to everyone who came out and supported them.
We are going to have our annual Silver Crest Work Day, Saturday; Oct 12th. ( weather permitting ). We will do some trail maintenance again that involves pruning small trees mostly. There is a section on Homestake Meadow that needs quite a few of them cut down. We also need to walk around and chain-saw out some trees that fell earlier in the summer. We added cutting fire wood for the warming hut as another task. If you would like to volunteer to participate we would love to have you come up. Again, Saturday, Oct 12. We will meet in the parking lot at 10:00 am. Bring everything you need for a comfortable and safe day. Work gloves, long pants, long sleeve shirts, good boots, sun glasses, rain gear, sun gear, bug spray, water, snacks etc… We will provide lunch as yet to be determined. The work day helps SCTA with our grant reimbursement requirements. Your work time goes to validating volunteer hours that are required for federal funding on National Forest Service lands.
If the weather isn’t going to cooperate and have to cancel, we will post something here.
You can mail me at bboland79@yahoo.com with any questions. Thanks everyone ! Bob
