We had a good turnout for skiers at Winter Trails Days. Thanks to everyone at Get Fit Great Falls, Cascade County Search and Rescue, Montana Dept. Fish Wildlife and Parks, U.S. Forest Service Belt Creek Ranger District and Big Horn Outdoor Specialists for organizing and administering the event. Thanks to SCTA board members Sarah and Fenn for taking ski tours around the trails and Colin for leading several snowshoe hikes. The first ski group had about 30 people and various numbers for the rest of the day. Thanks to Bighorn for the use of their skis again !

Saturday afternoon it started snowing again and by Sunday morning we had about 6 inches of new powder. Temperatures have cooled off finally so the snow isn’t sticking to skis . We groomed Sunday and the trails are in very good condition for classic and skate skiing. Sunday was a very good day to ski… mid 20’s for temps and a soft layer on top. The sun coming out in the afternoon.

Weather predictions are for a few inches starting Tuesday night and into Wednesday. Then more Thursday/Friday but no predictions yet on how much.

Cheers !
